Thank you very much.

These Economist folks really excel in the cover-art arena.
Human rights objectives certainly have been jettisoned in favour of the pursuit of filthy Mammon.

China is the Workers Paradise™!
Mao said so. No rich (except the Glorious Leaders), no unemployment, strict population control and mandatory abortion laws, NO private gun ownership, no freedom of speech, no religion too!
I mean, it is literally everything Antifa, BLM, and leftist fascists want the world over.
Yes, the people are slaves, but they have jobs, “free” health care, government housing, the works!
The only tiny little inconveniences are you don’t get to choose what jobs you get, or how much you can earn, or whether you can travel or ever leave. Hey, at least they took COVID seriously! A true Utopia.
Have a glorious day, comrades!

jkdmanaz,
If you actually read the Economist you would know that by and large you are free to express what you like so long as you keep away from criticizing the government. You can fairly freely organize protests so long as you notify the local committee. But even a harmless breast cancer awareness group organized on RenRen got into trouble because they didn’t notify. Given the complexity of the Chinese language you can get around a lot of the restrictions on internet censorship by using different ideograms to express forbidden ideas. Religions are mostly left alone, there are Buddhists, Christians, etc. Most people are probably Animists. Muslims have been harassed severely recently, esp. in the province of Xinjiang in response to some terrorist activity but that’s another story. And there is the strange prosecution of the Falun Gong sect. There is no universal health care system but is a hot topic of debate. Government housing is very limited depending on your place in the Hukou system. There is a large homeless population in China. The country has a lot of the problems endemic to a fast-growing mid-level economy. Chinese nationals are free to leave and emigrate and local travelers are quickly becoming the largest vacationers abroad. Y’know what, there’s too much to go through. Read/listen to the Economist for a few years! It’s going to be hard to maintain your knee-jerk prejudices. You will, my friend, acquire a more subtle, informed, and nuanced position.

Speaking of China…what ever happened to the Hunter Investigation. That went away QUICK! And they are still worried about Russia collusion in 2020. Biden better keep his mouth shut or Putin will belt him in the mouth and shut it for him. Funny how we have had four years of no new wars and now it looks like WW3 is right around the corner. Trump’s fault…right :D

Thanks Userabuser

userabuser I find it so funny how leftist call for nuance and consideration when it is China being discussed but there is ZERO consideration when it comes to nuance dealing with American issues. It’s either you are with us or actively against us. No in-between.

Thank you, userabuser

Thank you, userabuser, for sharing.
Apparently you do read/listen to the Economist and learn about the world, unlike some who only listen to what they want to hear.

Excellent, THANKS!

With Joe Bidet at the helm, China’s fortunes look great.
Joe hasn’t found a hater of America’s ass he did not want to kiss or bow to.
His “administration” is an Epic Fail on all levels.
