How much money is too much? Is it ethical, and democratic, for an individual to amass a limitless amount of wealth, and then spend it however they choose? Many of us feel that the answer to that is no—but what can we do about it?
Ingrid Robeyns has long written and argued for the principle she calls limitarianism—or the need to limit extreme wealth. This idea is gaining momentum in the mainstream—with calls to tax the rich and slogans like every billionaire is a policy failure—but what does it mean in practice? Robeyns explains the key reasons to support the case against extreme wealth:
It keeps the poor poor and inequalities growing.
It’s often dirty money.
It undermines democracy.
It’s one of the leading causes of climate change.
Nobody actually deserves to be a millionaire.
There are better things to do with excess money.
The rich will benefit too.
This will be the first authoritative trade book to unpack the concept of a cap on wealth, where to draw the line, how to collect the excess, and what to do with the money. In the process, Robeyns ignites an urgent debate about wealth, one that calls into question the very forces we live by (capitalism and neoliberalism) and invites us to a radical reimagining of our world.

It is certainly possible to solve the problem of wealth without solving the problem of poverty (it’s been done before).
The question being: which is your priority.

What’s funny is the comments for books like this stay open, but for some reason bvllsh*t books like “Stolen Wealth of Slavery blah blah reparations” has their comments locked down (https://businessaudio.org/abss/the-stolen-wealth-of-slavery-a-case-for-reparations-david-montero-2/). Comments for all or comments for none, but let’s not play the woke sh*t games on a bootleg book site.

It always makes me chuckle at the lack of self-awareness and hypocrisy demonstrated by users like @timsikes10595. They are literately on a site that is fully dependent on “woke” games to function. A society of like minded individuals freely shares content and then in order to download said content everyone needs to seed/share for the fun times to continue. So if you’re part of this community, you are actively spreading the woke mind virus. Welcome to the club. I’m sure someone brought cookies to share, and others are pooling their resources to make us some cool jackets.

Thank you for sharing! @Timy comments are blocked for some books because of ignorant, opinionated, hacks like you.
@myABBlove is right, 5 minutes of reflection could have saved you the ridicule. Better luck next time!

Awww looky looky, myabbselflove and davey-boy don’t like the fact that people are smart enough to know bullsh*t from the drivvel they would like us to believe. One post and the moles crawl out to protest. Not one cent for reparations, not one ouce of sympathy for people who love to play victim and have their hands out. And now let me scrape the abby/davey feedback off the bottom of my feet.

Thanks for sharing!
Though I anticipate agreeing with The Economst’s review of the book: “Such a policy (capping wealth at USD 10M) would provoke tax-avoidance on an epic scale. Brainy advisers would strain every synapse to help rich folk hide their wealth or shift it to friendlier jurisdictions. If, against the odds, a government managed to thwart such tricks, many rich folk would emigrate.”

Thanks Guest. Appreciate the higher bitrate.
Essential question @pryderi. Thanks for the reminder!

This was quite honestly one of the worst books I’ve ever had the misfortune of sitting through. Profoundly unwise, meretricious and poorly argued. That’s my reason for the one star rating, not the quality of the audio (which was absolutely fine). I do appreciate the upload, as it was required reading for a course I’m currently taking that touches on the concept of limitarianism in general (albeit from a critical perspective). I’d have hated to have to pay the author for the book - they really don’t deserve the revenue (which, given their own philosophy, I’m sure they’ll agree with).
